A Special Announcement
Note, this announcement will stay up until a specified time mentioned here.
Dear readers, I want to tell you a story.
This story? Its about a video game.
Fire Pro Wrestling.
One of the greatest franchises in video games ever.
With the use of the PlayStation 4 version of the franchise - I had recorded almost 2,000 hours of episodes and specials. It was going to expand to 5,000 and reach 20,000 hours with expansion to almost everyday.
It is a joy in this unending disappointment that has been American life since 2000 for yours truly. Yes, I had Fire Pro Wrestling Returns - and other games for smaller systems as well - I even got a Dreamcast for Fire Pro Wrestling D. That’s how serious all of this is.
The game has been up for nearly 7 years now - a devoted fan-base that has never let go - continuing uploads of new moves - so it can live as long as Sony (which hasn’t had many successes as of late) can keep the servers up.
I hope it will last 7 more.
The Idea for Retrocade Sports and The Republic Of Sports came from that love of Fire Pro Wrestling and the birth of the now second largest promotion in the United States - All Elite Wrestling. That idea was “supra-natural”- wrestling, wrapped around its legacy with real sports wrapped around its legacies.
It was going to be bigger than I would have thought.
The only thing that screwed it up sadly - was the overall mistrust of the American people - especially its youth on a lot of things that used to make America a high trust society - a rarity in this world.
The AI, the ratings discourse, the confusing metrics about sexual content, congress, and progress - how one treats one another and so on. The high trust world no longer exist because the rules and the laws are too slow and hinges on political winds that will not serve the citizens well at any level that matters.
It prevents success on the internet in ways you cannot imagine. The fact that the worldwide political enemy of this republic can have a app that allows people to make money doing dancing knowing their history…
I am getting to far into the woods of things outside of the preview of this place. I wish to bring it back to what I am trying to get at here.
All of what I have seen from the day Fire Pro Wrestling World and later AEW’s birth have shown me is something has really gone wrong not just in wrestling fandom, but with most sports fandom in particular. Its something grave, dark and all and all malignant.
I wish not to be a part of that sort of malignancy.
What now needs to happen is a alignment and access - not accessibility or conformity. I don’t have many friends here, I care little if I do, if they come in a time and place of respect, I will respect them back. I care very little about certain opinions on how people should live their lives and choose business partners. There has to be an brutally and brutish honesty about who one works with and lives with and deals with because it is not how such products, shows and entities have on ones life, but defense of ones quirks from said things.
Another thing - money doesnt go as far in America as it goes in other places. And when it does go in these places - it heads into places that leaves way too much to be desired.
It is a very hard choice to make, I want to gain an audience, and keep this place for people that care about the game of Fire Pro Wrestling and more.
But several things have happened that has cause me to take great pause and to figure out a path forward.
One, the rise of gambling and gambling promotions, websites, tv shows and so on has had an effect on the enjoyment of sport and of wrestling in particular. While not being bet on, they have hurt the experience of watching wrestling…
Two, the realization of what the audience wants and what a new wrestling audience really needs are dramatically different and will cause re-consolidation in the industry which is no longer needed and anywhere necessary.
Three, is personal. There has to be changes in one stage in life. I need to have much more than what is currently available. There has to be more to life. This life is way too short - and limiting myself to continue to be involved in the pettiness that people are involved in. Plus, I wish to bring back Fire Pro Wrestling World and the project around it in the near future.
So with a heavy heart - I must make this announcement.
On January 31st 2025, The Republic Of Sports will begin a process of heading towards a fully members only Substack. A tiered system will be set up based on wrestling tropes will be set up for members to join. That Tiered system will be fully operational between April to July of 2025. If the Tiered system does not go up by at least the end of July 2025 - the Republic of Sports - Retrocade Sports and plans for all of the works with these and Fire Pro Wrestling World’s live streaming will shut down for good.
This members only substack will have more stuff than ever possible. I plan for a full set - an actual interview studio - not these youtube like work and views. I want professionalism not lackadaisical nonsense.
One other major idea if AEW cannot are is not able to produce a show like the All Elite Show for the United States like they do in Mexico - Retrocade Sports/The Republic of Sports will produce a unofficial one of a similar scope, with fan support. This will be on the free side on the Substack, as a courtesy for fans of AEW. The ideas for the show will be similar to what they do for NBC’s Premier League Live and CBS’s Champions League Today. (These plans will change if AEW does in the future - produce a All Elite show for the United States just like in Mexico that airs on a syndication or brodcast/cable platform)
This has to be done because stability is key - but adventure is the lifeblood of a free man. And I dont want to beholden by any company but I never want another monopoly again in the wrestling world, nor in sport - and I want to set a place where Gambling and its perversions will no longer have a say in this part of the sporting realm.
RetroCade Sports and the Republic Of Sports I hope, can be that place.
